Job Description

Pet Patrol Job Opportunity

Pet Patrol gives you a fun opportunity to work hands-on with animals while giving you skill sets to build a professional animal-focused career.

Our staff undergoes an onboarding process that prepares them to work with new animals. We assign primary walkers to our clients. We only offer private dog walks, no group walks. We service Orland Park, Tinley Park, Palos Park, Palos Heights, and nearby communities.

For every PT member of our amazing team, we provide:

  • Training and experience you need to advance your pet care career
  • Free puppy kisses
  • Freedom to work independently
  • Liability insurance, bonding, and workman's compensation for your protection
  • Employee Incentives and other discounts on pet care
  • All pet supplies provided

The responsibilities:

  • Create a safe and positive walking environment for our client's dogs.
  • Follow the client-provided care instructions.
  • Provide detailed and attentive care for our client's cats.
  • Give our clients first-class customer service with a personal touch.
  • Communicate with staff via phone/text and photographs.
  • Contribute to the team effort by working as a team player.
  • Practice time management to ensure on-time arrivals for all assigned visits.
  • Travel from client to client in the Southwest Suburbs.

The ideal candidate:

  • Servers, artists, drivers of any sorts, retail workers, dog trainers, college students, musicians, tutors, and retirees.
  • An honest, patient, and enthusiastic candidate who can provide our client's dogs and cats with the highest quality visits possible.
  • The candidate should have a strong understanding of safety and time management.
  • Previous professional or volunteer experience with animals is preferred, but a positive attitude and a desire to learn are just as important.
  • The candidate should enjoy an active work environment, walking independently, working outdoors regardless of weather conditions.
  • Special consideration for candidates with evening, weekend, and holiday availability.
  • This is an excellent opportunity for people looking to start a career or grow their professional experience with dogs and cats.
  • The candidate should have an innate desire to care for animals while ensuring their safety.

Some basic job requirements:

  • US citizen or legally authorized to work in the US
  • Over 18 years of age with a valid driver's license
  • Able to pass a background check
  • Local full-time resident of our service area, or willing to commute daily
  • Comfortable handling dogs of all sizes and breeds, cats, fish, and any other pet a client may have
  • Able to lift 50 lbs without assistance
  • Able to commit to this position for 6 months from date of hire
  • Available all Mondays and Fridays from 10am to 3pm
  • Possess your own reliable transportation
  • Possess your own smartphone to communicate with our team members

How much can I make?

Our team of pet care professionals can make up to $500/month while filling their dog, cat, puppy, and kitten-cuddling needs each week! Starting wage is up to $18/hr and a $50/month supplement for travel and phone reimbursement is provided. Opportunities for growth and raises are also offered.

This particular job is for a new route we are building from Palos Hills to Orland Park. There are some pre-existing clients on the route but you will have minimal hours at first. As we grow and get more clients, your route and hours will increase.

Our staff say that it is the best job ever! Pet Patrol is perfect for animal lovers who also want to help clients have peace of mind while they're away. We offer management support and thorough training to make sure you feel confident in your ability to care for the pets on your route. We can't wait to welcome you to the team! Please note that we will correspond through email. Regularly check your email, and possibly even spam folders.
