Position Summary:

The Form Carpenter is responsible for building and setting forms used in concrete construction on commercial job sites. This role involves interpreting blueprints, constructing formwork for foundations, walls, columns, and slabs, and ensuring precise measurements and structural integrity. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of concrete systems, forming methods, and safety practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Construct, install, and dismantle wooden and metal forms for concrete placement based on blueprints and specifications.
• Set forms for slabs, walls, columns, beams, footings, and other structural components.
• Measure, cut, and assemble form materials with precision using hand and power tools.
• Install embed plates, anchor bolts, keyways, and blockouts per project requirements.
• Ensure proper form alignment, bracing, and structural support to maintain safety and shape integrity.
• Apply form-release agents and inspect formwork before pouring concrete.
• Strip forms after concrete cures and clean/reuse form materials when applicable.
• Collaborate with concrete finishers and laborers to ensure accurate and timely concrete placement.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas and adhere strictly to safety guidelines.
• Report any defects, safety issues, or potential hazards to supervisors immediately.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 2–5 years of experience as a form carpenter in commercial construction.
• Proficient in reading construction blueprints and form layout drawings.
• Skilled in the use of tools such as saws, hammers, levels, squares, drills, and nail guns.
• Familiar with form systems such as Symons, Peri, Doka, or similar.
• Ability to perform precise measurements and layout work.
• Strong understanding of safety procedures and job site regulations.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to different job sites.

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions:

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in physically demanding environments.
• Comfortable working at heights, in tight spaces, and outdoors in varying weather.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, standing, and reaching.
• Must wear PPE (hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, boots, etc.) at all times on site.
