Now Hiring: Safety Officer (Senior-Level Position)
Location: Abilene, TX
Salary Range: $65,000 – $100,000 (Based on Experience)
HJC is seeking a Safety Officer to lead our organization's safety vision, execution, and culture across all field operations. This role holds executive-level authority and works alongside other Vice Presidents to drive operational excellence, accountability, and care for our workforce.
We're looking for someone who brings deep safety expertise, leadership presence, and decision-making authority to shape a culture where every team member goes home safe - every time.
Key Responsibilities:Serve as the top safety authority across all company operations and job sites.
Set and maintain strategic safety objectives in alignment with company goals.
Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and implement systemic improvements.
Oversee compliance with TXDOT, OSHA, and internal safety policies .
Lead and mentor field leaders and crews on hazard recognition, risk mitigation, and accountability.
Drive continuous improvement in all safety systems, reporting, and communication.
Represent safety leadership in executive-level decision-making and operational planning.
Proven leadership in a senior safety or executive safety role within construction or industrial operations.
In-depth knowledge of highway construction safety standards, TXDOT requirements , and federal/state regulations.
Strong command presence and the ability to influence at all levels - from field crews to executive leadership.
Experience building or enhancing safety programs, procedures, and culture.
Excellent communication, coaching, and incident response skills.
