About the Role:The SEO team at The New York Times plays an essential role in reaching and growing our biggest audience channel; search. We are responsible for executing the editorial and technical SEO strategy work on nytimes.com. The technical arm of the SEO team partners with engineers and project leads on the product side to ensure the latest technical SEO best practices are in place, the site's technical health is sound, and other teams across the Times are following Google's guidelines. Our team is growing and we are seeking a Technical SEO Manager on NYT Cooking to help drive more search success and solve complex SEO problems. You will be responsible for improving NYT Cooking's search visibility by enhancing the product's technical capabilities and performance. You will also have opportunities to work and support SEO efforts across the NYTimes portfolio. You will analyze search performance, develop search strategies, and lead initiatives to grow search. You will report to our Director, SEO.You will identify and manage strategic search projects in partnership with the technical SEO team and the Product organization (engineering, design, product, and data analytics teams). You will lead on-site SEO data reporting and analysis. Transform complex data into clear narratives that drive understanding and action through effective storytelling.You will prioritize SEO initiatives by evaluating potential impact against the required effort to ensure focus on the highest-value work.You will perform ongoing technical audits; identifying enhancements, bugs, and fixes, and filing them in JIRAYou will ensure adherence to web performance standards, including Core Web Vitals, Time to First Byte (TTFB), and accessibility guidelines.You will analyze traffic abnormalities and fluctuations, providing real-time debugging, auditing, and diagnosing.You will monitor and benchmark competitors in the recipe space, looking at different technical aspects of their site for insights and inspiration for NYT Cooking.You will develop and deliver ongoing technical SEO training programs for product and engineering teams.
